Goodreads Summary: Ruby Scott is months behind on rent and can’t seem to land a steady job. She has one chance to turn things around with a big audition. But instead of getting her big break, she gets sick as a dog and completely bombs it in the most humiliating fashion. All thanks to a mysterious, gorgeous guy who kissed—and then coughed on—her at a party the night before. Luckily, her best friend might have found the perfect opportunity; a job staying at the lavish penthouse apartment of hotel magnate Bancroft Mills while he’s out of town, taking care of his exotic pets. But when the newly-evicted Ruby arrives to meet her new employer, it turns out Bane is the same guy who got her sick. Seeing his role in Ruby’s dilemma, Bane offers her a permanent job as his live-in pet sitter until she can get back on her feet. Filled with hilariously awkward encounters and enough sexual tension to heat a New York City block, Shacking Up, from NYT and USA Today bestselling author Helena Hunting, is sure to keep you laughing and swooning all night long.

My Review

Shacking Up in Three Words: Funny. Teaser. Enjoyable.

This book was a whole lot of fun to read! Shacking Up was exactly what I needed to read to take a break from all my reading for grad school.

Shacking Up has an interesting plot and some fun characters. Ruby may have had an amazing random kiss the night before, but isn't happy that it made her sick, especially since it is the reason why she bombs her audition the next day. Luckily for her, her best friend knows the guy and they end up hooking her up with the temporary job of taking care of his pets while he is out of town. Ruby is in desperate need of money and will do anything.

Bancroft (what a name!) feels incredibly guilty for getting Ruby sick and doesn't hesitate to offer her a job to watch his pets. Bancroft is described as a sexy ex-rugby player. I liked him. He is a good guy, which is a nice change of pace from some rich guys in other romance novels. Ruby also comes from money, but refuses to accept it and instead follow her dream, she too is a nice girl. Ruby and Bancroft are very likable people, unlike a few other characters that make an appearance.

There is a lot of teasing and flirting between Bancroft and Ruby, and it was adorable. It brought a lot of heat and a few laughs. Their interactions had me fanning myself a few times. If that doesn't make for a good romance novel then I don't know what does.

The Final Verdict: All you romance fans out there will enjoy reading Shacking Up.
