2019 Beat the Backlist Challenge

Sing up here! | Jan. 1 2019 - Dec. 31 2019 | Hosted by NovelKnight

Besides the Goodreads challenge, I have not been participating in reading challenges the last two years thanks to graduate school keeping me busy. However, I am officially done with grad school (as of Dec. 10) and I will now have some more time on my hands! When I stumbled upon this challenge on a few other book blogs I knew I had to give it a try. There are so many books that have been on my TBR pile for quite some time that I have ignored. I am hoping to change that in 2019, especially getting to the books I actually own that are just sitting on my shelf.

My Goal

To read at least one backlist book a month, but hopefully read a total of 24! Let's all keep our fingers crossed. I always have the best intentions at the beginning of the year, and then I kind of just forget about the challenges I have signed up for. I am truly hoping that I stick with this one. Perhaps I will make a physical Backlist TBR Shelf on my bookcase for inspiration.

Bout of Books Challenge: Bookish Would You Rather

Bookish Would You Rather

The Challenge: Answer the five bookish would you rather questions.

Would You Rather...

1. Lend books to someone who dog-ears pages or to someone who reads with cheesy Cheetos fingers?

I would rather have someone dog-ear my pages than read my book with cheesy fingers! Just thinking about it makes me cringe.

2. Be able to meet one character of your choice or meet one author of your choice?

I would rather meet one character, but I'm not sure which one.

3. Never be allowed in a book store again or never be allowed in a library again?

I would rather never be allowed in a book store again. Not only do I work at two libraries, but I would save a lot more money going to a library than a book store, plus a million other reasons.

4. Have to choose one of your favorite characters to die in their book or have to pick one of your favorite couples to break up in their book?

I would rather have a favorite character die, as long as it is in a blaze of glory. I can't handle it when my ships aren't together.

5. Be required to read Twilight once a year for the rest of your life or The Scarlet Letter once a year for the rest of your life?

I actually really wouldn't mind either of these options. I guess I will go with Twilight.

My Goal: Hitchhiker (10-20 States)
I read a lot of fantasy books and books that don't take place in actual states and therefore I am only doing the hitchhiker level, but I still think this challenge is going to be a lot of fun. I can't wait to pay more attention to the setting of my books and keep track of that.
