Rain Reign by Ann M. Martin
Rain Reign is emotionally wonderful. It is both heartbreaking and beautiful. I am so thankful that I got to meet Rose. She is a character I won't soon forget. Even if you don't read middle grade books you should give this one a try.

Chasing Secrets by Gennifer Choldenko
This historical fiction was interesting and fun. I love a well written story about a plague and how it affects not just one family, but the whole town. Another plus, the main character was brave and wonderful.

May B. by Caroline Starr Rose
I can't believe how strong and smart May B. is! I don't think I would be able to survive a horrible snow storm all by myself at the age of 13 in the middle of nowhere.

The Worst Class Trip Ever by Dave Barry
Full of laughs and scheming, this was a fun book. I only wish it would have been a little more entertaining from start to finish. I loved the start and I loved the finish, but the middle part was only just okay for me. I do think kids will love this!
One Came Hon by Amy Timberlake
This one was a little slower than I would have liked considering it was a rather short book, but once I started the second half I was completely immersed in the story.

Princess Academy by Shannon Hale
I wanted to love this book, but I only ended up liking it. I am not sure if it was the slower pace or what but I had a hard time reading this one. I liked the characters, the story, and the setting, so who knows what my problem was. I can see young kids really enjoying this one.
I really enjoyed Rain Reign when I got the chance to read it last year! It's definitely a moving story with a simple plot and great characterization :) And I want to read Chasing Secrets, which sounds pretty darn fab!
ReplyDeleteI agree with you about Rain Reign! It was a wonderful story that everyone should read. Chasing Secrets was good too.
DeleteI haven't heard of any of these, but so many sound good! Thanks for sharing :)
ReplyDeleteI think you would love Rain Reign!!!
DeleteHappy Friday, Kay! I've heard a lot of great things about Rain Reign, so I'm thrilled that you loved it. I've recently read The Night Parade which I adored (review coming soon) and wished more adults would take a break and enjoy a good MG title more often. So many great books.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the great mini's :)
I may have to read The Night Parade! You should definitely read Rain Reign!
DeleteI don't read middle grade too often, but there are quite a few of them that I am looking forward to trying because these sound like my kind of middle grade. I specially like the sound of Rain Reign and May B.
ReplyDeleteMy recent book haul post: http://olivia-savannah.blogspot.nl/2016/01/my-hoarding-catastrophe-it-wasnt-me.html
I haven't really read a lot of middle grade before but I am so glad I read these. I hope you get a chance to try a few. :D
