Please, Tell Me What to Read!

I will have three full weeks between my summer and fall grad school classes, and that means I can read whatever I want! However, I am having trouble narrowing down what to read. This is where you come in. I need your help! Please look over my list and vote for your top three choices. Thank you!

The Books

To All the Boys I've Loved Before by Jenny Han

I have never read a Jenny Han book. *hangs head in shame* Now that this series is going to be a show on Netflix I feel like I need to give it a try.

Lucky in Love by Kasie West

I am behind on Kasie West books! She always delivers fun contemporaries.

Lifel1k3 by Jay Kristoff

I loved The Illuminae Files but have yet to read anything else by this author.

The Burning Maze by Rick Riordan

This one should be a quick read! I love diving back into Percy Jackson's world.

Children of Blood and Bone by Tomi Adeyemi

Am I the only person on the plant who still hasn't read this book?

Tower of Dawn by Sarah J. Maas

I really should read this book before the last one comes out in October. The end is near.

Crazy Rich Asians by Kevin Kwan

Another book I want to read before I see it.

Review: Kiss of the Royal by Lindsey Duga

Kiss of the Royal by Lindsey Duga (July 3, 2018)
Length: 400 pages
Genre: Young Adult/Romance/Fantasy
Publisher: Entangled Teen
Source: I received a free copy of the book from the publisher. Thank you Entangled Teen! This did NOT affect my honest review.
Purchase: Barnes & Noble | Amazon
My Rating:
Goodreads Summary: What if a kiss could turn the tide of a war? In the war against the Forces of Darkness, the Royals are losing. With increasing omens foretelling an unthinkable future ruled by evil, Princess Ivy is determined to end this war once and for all—but her battle magic doesn’t work without a partner. Prince Zachariah’s unparalleled skill with a sword, enhanced by Ivy’s magic, should make them an unstoppable pair. But once they’re on the battlefield, Zach refuses to do the one thing Ivy knows will ensure their victory, because he believes love is the most powerful weapon they have, even in war. Now Ivy must convince Zach to listen to reason and fight with her magic, before everything they’ve been working to protect is destroyed by the darkest creature their world has ever seen.

My Review

Kiss of the Royal in Three Words: Entertaining. Adventurous. Romantic.

I absolutely adored Kiss of the Royal. In this fairy tale story the girls have all the kissing power. Princess Ivy is a hard-working stubborn main character who has the most powerful kiss in the kingdom. Prince Zachariah is a charming swordsman, and nothing like what Princess Ivy expected in a battle partner. With a dark and powerful evil growing in the mountains, they have no choice but to team up and save the kingdom. This standalone fantasy features all of my favorite fantasy tropes including mythical creatures and a quest with many battles/challenges along the way. I loved Ivy and Zach, their banter, and their complete opposite beliefs about love and magic. Although the idea of fighting by kissing (transferring magic) may sound ridiculous and silly, I ended up finding it entertaining and leading to a lot of interesting discussions between the two main characters. The plot it fast paced and full of romantic tension and magical battles. I think this would be a good book for fans of An Enchantment of Ravens.

The Bottom Line: Kiss of the Royal is a quick and enjoyable read. It was a nice escape from the real world. Give it a try!

TTT #90: Summer TBR Pile

**I am so sorry I am posting this late! I know this topic was a couple of weeks ago, but time got away from me.** This week's topic is books that you would read at the beach, but I decided to just feature my summer TBR pile. I picked books I really want to read that I don't have to read for class this summer.

New Books

A disastrous wedding and a possible romance? This sounds like the perfect summer read. Sign me up!

Lifel1k3 by Jay Kristoff
This sounds like the science fiction book I have been waiting for.

I love when my fantasy novels have romance in them.

Sweet Black Waves by Kristina Perez
I originally ignored this title because the cover made me think it was a historical fiction, but it is actually a fantasy!

Geekerella by Ashley Poston
I know this isn't a new book, but it is new to me. This sounds like a super fun and super cute nerdy retelling of Cinderella!

Sadie by Courtney Summers
I am really into true crime podcasts right now, so I can't wait to read this book.

To Be Honest by Maggie Ann Martin
As someone who has struggled with her weight, I knew I had to give this book a try.

The Sequels

Dreamer by L.E. Delano
I loved the first book and can't wait to get the time to read the sequel.

These Vengeful Souls by Tarun Shanker & Kelly Zekas
I can't wait to see how this trilogy ends. That last book was crazy!

My Plain Jane by Cynthia Hand, Jodi Meadows, & Brodi Ashton
I loved My Lady Jane and since I am a Jane Eyre fan think I will love this one even more.
