#ReadingDecathlon Challenge: Read 10 Books in 10 Days

"Summer is coming to a close and it’s time to get through those books that have been sitting in your TBR pile while you’ve been at the beach this season! Are you ready to read 10 books in 10 days? Take the #ReadingDecathlon challenge and see if you can power your way through ten books in less than two weeks! Pshh… easy right?" ~ Epic Reads Blog
I may just be crazy. Why? Because I am going to attempt to read 10 books in 10 days. That's right! I am #ReadingForGold.

I have no idea if I will be able to actually accomplish this insane task, but I am going to try. I will update this blog post whenever I start a new book. I am pumped for this guys. I hope some of you will join me. You can pick which day you begin. I will start today. Let the games begin!

What I am Reading

Day 1 (Friday Aug. 12)
Book 1: The Kiss of Deception by Mary E. Pearson

Day 2 (Saturday Aug. 13)
*I had to finish book one before beginning the next one. Mission accomplished.
Book 2: The Heart of Betrayal by Mary E. Pearson

Day 3 (Sunday Aug. 14)
*I once again had to finish the previous book. Done. On to the next book!
Book 3: The Beauty of Darkness by Mary E. Pearson

Day 4 (Monday Aug. 15)
I finished book 3! (It was a long one at 679 pages.)

Day 5 (Tuesday Aug. 16)
Book 4: Edge of Glory by Magan Vernon

Day 6 (Wednesday Aug. 17)
Book 5: The Hidden Oracle by Rick Riordan

Day 7 (Thursday Aug. 18)
*I had to finish yesterday's book first. I never get a lot of reading done on Wednesdays because of my weird work hours.
Book 6: If I Was Your Girl by Meredith Russo

Day 8 (Friday Aug. 19)
Book 7: P.S. I Like You by Kasie West

Day 9 (Saturday Aug. 20)
Book 8: The Night She Disappeared by April Henry
Book 9: Chasing Lincoln's Killer by James L. Swanson

Day 10 (Sunday Aug. 21)
Book 10: Stars of Fortune by Nora Roberts

The Results

I did it! I read 10 books in 10 days! I can't believe it. I almost didn't finish since in those 10 days I only had 2 days off of work. I read a total of 3,648 pages during that time! I'm feeling good. I had a lot of fun with this reading challenge and it was the hardest I have ever done. Between working two jobs, house stuff, and taking care of my puppy it was hard to set all that time aside to read. I honestly couldn't have done it without the help of my husband. I didn't really blog this week, but hopefully I can get back into the swing of things. So there you have it. Have you done this challenge yet? Are your going do it?

The Outlander Series 2015 Reading Challenge Giveaway!

I can't believe my Outlander challenge has officially come to a close. Time flies. I am so sorry that I ended up getting two months behind with the Outlander posts, but I have a really good reason. I bought my first house and got a second job a couple of months ago, which in turn made for one crazy summer. Anyway...

Even though I failed at my own challenge, some of you succeeded and deserve to be recognized for your efforts. Whether you read 1, 2, or all of the books in the series, you can enter to win a $10 gift card to The Book Depository or Amazon! Heck, I even have a free entry for anyone who originally signed up in the challenge, because I of all people know that sometimes you have the best intentions but life gets in the way. Not to mention that I never pass up an opportunity to help support my fellow book nerds' bookish buying habits. ;) All you have to do is share the links to your reviews on the books in the rafflecopter below. It can be a link to a blog post, a tweet, a goodreads review, etc. Anything that shows that you read the book counts. Good luck!

Giveaway

How many books did you read? I read two. I still plan to finish the series in the nearish future.

Final Thoughts

I didn't read nearly as much as I was hoping I would, but I still read almost 4 books! It's hard finding time to read when you have a guest staying with you, you work 6 days a week, and laundry and such still needs to get done. Considering all of that, I think I did pretty freaking good. I am still proud of myself and I can't wait to participate again next time!

Bout of Books: Character Coupling Challenge

Character Coupling Challenge
The Challenge: Take two characters from two different books and pair them up together in any kind of relationship that you think they would have. Explain why. I did three couplings!

The Characters: Strumhond (Siege and Storm by Leigh Bardugo) &Kelsea (The Queen of the Tearling by ERika Johansen)
Their Relationship Status: Queen and King, Friends to Romantic Relationship
The Why: With Strumhond and Kelsea joining forces they would be unstoppable. They are brilliant and I'm sure Strumhond would be able to charm Kelsea and give her the love she deserves. I see them starting out as friends and becoming fierce and passionate together over the love they have of their kingdoms. They will rule all.

The Characters: Harry Potter (HP and The Sorcer's Stone by J.K. Rowling) & Percy Jackson (TheLightningThief by Rick Riordan)
Their Relationship Status: BFF
The Why: I would love if these two were friends for life and there was a book a bout it. I think Harry's seriousness and Percy's fun side would make for two friends that really balance each other out. Also, it doesn't hurt that they both have had to fight off many a bad guy and could relate in that way. Think of them fighting off the baddies together?!

The Characters: Gale (The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins) & Vicky (A Mad, Wicked Folly by Sharon Briggs Waller)
Their Relationship Status: Freedom Fighters and Long Time Couple
The Why: Gale needs a strong woman by his side and I think Vicky would fight with him in their search of freedom. It's not that I think Vicky needs a man, she doesn't, I just think these two would really work well together.

I enjoyed the challenges a great deal, but I am a little sad I didn't spend a lot of time finding new blogs. I will have to work on that for next time.

I'm Putting the Library on Hold

Details HERE |Start Date: 1/1/2015 | End Date: 1/31/2015

For one whole month (January 2015) I will ONLY be reading books that I already own. I will NOT be getting books from the library, or if I do I won't be reading them. I am always gathering piles and piles of books from the library to read and their ever looming due dates always make me lean towards reading them before my own. I am addicted to the library and it doesn't help that I work at one. Therefore, I hope that I can start the year off on the right foot by reading some of my own books from my TBR pile instead of just library books.

Without further ado... here are some of the books I own and still need/want to read. Perfect choices for this challenge.

1. The Arrivals by: Melissa Marr
2. The Burning Sky by: Sherry Thomas
3. Landry Park by: Bethany Hagen
4. Uninvited by: Sophie Jordan
5. Premeditated by: Josin L. McQuein
6. Torn Away by: Jennifer Brown
7. The 19th Wife by:David Ebershoff
8. Hemingway's Girl by: Erika Robuck
9. Legacy by: C.J. Daugherty
10. Undead With Benefits by: Jeff Hart
11. Every Breath by: Ellie Marney
12. American Gods by: Neil Gaiman
13. Hit by: Lorie Ann Grover
14. Compulsion by: Martina Boone
15. The Storied Life of A.J. Fickry by:Gabrielle Zevin
16. Blonde Ops by: Charlotte Bennardo, Natalie Zaman
17. The Accidental Assassin by: Nichole Chase
18. Withering Hope by: Layla Hagen

FINAL UPDATE

Put The Library on Hold was a success!!! I only read books that I already owned for the entire month of January. Although it was rather hard not to get books and read them from the library for a whole month, especially since I work at one, I don't regret participating in this challenge. I read nine of my own books that I have been meaning to read for some time. I feel accomplished. I think I shall be doing this every year. It was a good way to start of my 2015 bookish year.

The Outlander Series 2015 Reading Challenge Details & Sign Up

Why am I hosting this challenge?
A while ago I read the first book in this series and never got around to reading the rest. Then I watched the television show this past year and realized that I wanted to read this series now more than ever. Therefore, I decided to challenge myself to finally read all eight Outlander books by Diana Gabaldon, and I didn't want to do it alone. I really couldn't find any other challenges out there this specific so I decided to create one. (I know this is kind of like a read-a-long but these books are so big I feel like it is more of a challenge.) **This is my first time hosting a challenge so hang in there.

Who can join?
Anyone and everyone is welcome to join the challenge. It doesn't matter if you have read the books before and just want to re-read them or if this is your first time digging in.

How long does this challenge last?
The challenge runs from Feb. 1, 2015 to Sept. 30, 2015.Why those months? Those months seem to be the least hectic for everyone. Also, I wanted to aim for reading a book a month.

The Reading Schedule (The Outlander Series by Diana Gabaldon in Order)
February - Outlander
March - Dragonfly in Ember
April - Voyager
May - Drums of Autumn
June -The Fiery Cross
July - A Breathe of Snow and Ashes
August - An Echo in the Bone
September - Written in My Own Hearts Blood
** If you get behind or ahead in the reading schedule that is totally fine. The goal is just to read all eight books by the end of September.
Bonus Reads
The Exile - A Graphic Novel
Lord John Grey Series
- Lord John and the Private Matter
- Lord John and the Hand of Devils
- Lord John and the Brotherhood of the Blade
- Scottish Prisoner

Will there be a giveaway?
If at least 10 lovely people sign up for this challenge I will host a giveaway at the end as a reward for all of those who participated, whether you read one or all eight books. There will be a chance for extra entries if you read any of the bonus books on this list.

How do you keep track and share what you have read?
Head on over to the review link up post (COMING SOON!) to share your reviews on the books! If you don't have a blog you can always just post a link to your review on goodreads or simply share in the comments what book you finished reading and what you thought.

How do you join?
Sign up below with the linky anytime! All you have to do is share the link to the blog post, twitter, goodreads shelf, or whatever way you want, stating that you are going to participate in the challenge. Please link back to this page so others can join the challenge as well and see what it is all about. Feel free to use the challenge banner below in your post.
