I Feel Like Gabbing Today

**I have no idea how often I will post this feature or when exactly I'm going to post it. This is a work in progress. I do however know that I want to share with you the very random thoughts that pop into my head. Many are bookish thoughts and many are not. I feel like I don't have enough discussion type posts on the blog so I am giving this a whirl. Today I will feature a list of my randomness.

1. I just finished writing a three star review and it was painful. Very painful. I have the WORST time trying to think of things to say about a book that I just liked but didn't love or hate. Please tell me I am not the only person with this problem.

2. Right now I am three books ahead of my goodreads reading challenge and I am flying high! It feels so good. I am on a reading frenzy. I couldn't be happier.

3. So far this year I am keeping up with my reviews. I really hope I stay on top of things at least for another few months.

4. As my friend's wedding grows nearer I become busier and busier. My calendar for the month of March and April is filling up fast.

5. My husband and I just celebrated the fact that it has been 8 years since we first started dating! That is a long time folks, but I guess time flies when you are having fun. :)

6. I am trying so hard to have more of a presence on Twitter and I think I am doing pretty good so far, but I still want to be better.

7. I am trying so hard to be healthier this year, but trying to find motivation to work out when it is freezing here is hard work. I just want to snuggle under a blanket and read. Heck, even getting ready to go into work when the weather is bad is a challenge. I have noticed that I am a whole lot more active when it is nicer out, especially since I love going on long walks with my husband when the weather is nice. I am counting down the days until spring begins!

8. I LOVE my part-time job at the library, but I wonder if one day I will ever actually get a full-time grown-up job. For right now I am going to continue to love it and be thankful for my job and use the free time I have to write more. My real goal: to be published by the time I am 30.

9. I am trying to figure out a new monthly feature for my blog about book covers, but I have yet to really pin down exactly what I want to do with this idea. All I know is I love book covers. I love talking about them. I love fangirling over them. I love reading posts about them. Therefore, I have no idea why I don't do some kind of cover post on my blog every month.

  1. My husband and I are coming up on 11 years since we started dating -- the time really does fly! 8 years is awesome and definitely something to celebrate. And I totally know what you mean about the weather -- I am on Dr's orders to exercise, but its so hard in winter -- I really can't do anything much more than walking anyway though, so I'm super grateful that my town has a free program at the middle school where there are hours you can go and walk indoors -- it's about all I can manage now anyway! It's tough to go out in the cold, but it's become a nice routine. And YAY for being ahead of your reading goal :) I am flying through books too thanks to audio, a newfound addiction to graphic novels, and the choice of some shorter books lately. I try not to get hung up on numbers, but it feels so good to knock a bunch off my TBR :)

    1. Congrats Christine, 11 years is a good amount of time!! Love that you have the chance to walk indoors at least. Maybe spring will come sooner rather than later. YAY for flying through books! I am reading Outlander right now and although I am loving it, I forgot how long it takes to read such a big book. I am going to try to read more graphic novels this year! Keep on knocking down those numbers on your TBR.

  2. so much to talk about. I am trying a dicussion post too. I stink at it but hopefully it will catch one. So your three star review thing. I hate three star reviews. Its like I liked it enough to say well I would read the next but I am also lacking for anything to say other than that. I think I mostly do 4 star reviews... one they are easier and two well I like books. so three and two stars don't hit as much as four and five stars. Two is bit easier to write becuase I can say where the book went wrong but I didn't hate it hate it. I just though it could have been better. Five stars are really easy becuase I get to gush gush gush. So I feel you on three stars.

I am trying to keep up on my reviews too. Its just so hard. Read or write a review... um read. So I have to force myself to sit down and take the time. Reviews do not come easy to me. I feel like i have all these thoughts bubbleing around in my head but I don't know how to get them accorss in writing. So yay for keeping up.

Cover post.... I started that. I didn't narrow it down to anything specific. Each week I find a cover I like and go form there... sometimes comparisons, sometimes simiularities, sometimes a series cover... somtimes a rant about changing covers. Whatever comes out comes out.

So on the subject of personal stuff. Congrats on 8 years. Me and my Hubby have been together for 17 years this year. Its amazing it never feels so long yet I still feel we have forever to go. Which is a good thing.

Healthier is always a good thing. Since my grandson first made his appearance on a pregnancy test I have changed the way my family eats. he is now 18 months and we have made some big changes but still have a ways to go. We have taken out most almost all processed foods (except cheese can't live without cheese). We have also gone to grass fed hormone free meat and organic veggies and fruit. We have replaced or wheat pasta with quinoa pasta too. No sodas or sugary drings. Only water... ice tea... milk. sometimes juice. So we are getting there. Excercise is where i lack. Who has time for that when there are so many books to read. Good luck on your healthy journey. Its wonderful you are taking that route.

one last thing. who needs a grown up job... if you can make it on a part time (dream) job... DO IT!!!! :) being a grown up with a grown up job sucks. I wish I could do a part time library job. So does my best friend who is the teen librarian at our local library. She would love me to come work for her. but bills say NO!

    1. YES! I completely agree with you about writing reviews. I'm so glad I am not alone.

I have the same problem. Always trying to decide between writing a review or reading, and normally reading wins out, but I have been trying to be good lately. I hope the next review you write comes a little easier for you.

I like your cover posts. I need to figure out if I want some kind of system or what. I'm still working on it. All I know is I like covers, and judging them, even though technically I shouldn't do that all the time.

17 years!!! That is amazing! Congrats! :D

What you are doing sounds hard, but awesome. I could never live without cheese either. It sounds like you guys are doing great!! My husband and I are trying to watch what we eat, and are doing pretty good so far. Although I doubt he would ever cut out soda. haha So far I am trying some videos to work out indoors and it is going pretty well so far, but I miss being able to take walks outside.

You are right, if I can make it work (money wise) why shouldn't I enjoy the part time library job I love?! THANKS for the encouragement!

Jenn Renee thanks for talking with me. I enjoyed gabbing with you. ;)

  4. Reviews for books I love are my hardest to write, but that's closely followed by those books i'm indifferent about so I totally sympathize. And I have been keeping up with my reviews too which is SO UNLIKE ME but FEELS SO GOOD. HAPPY 8 YEARS OF BEING TOGETHER! And I am trying to be on Twitter more too and I've been doing quite well. Although Ash must be hating it because she forwards all our blog emails to her email account and now they are overloaded by twitter emails hah. I am also trying to be healthy. I am pretty good about working out (the secret is to start AND DON"T LET YOURSELF STOP FOR WHATEVER REASON because once laziness sneaks in...)but I always ate like crap and undid any progress I might have made so I'm trying to watch what I eat but well, I love food. And I will read anything you write whether on your blog or in a book :)

    1. YAY on us keeping up with reviews!!! We gotta keep it going. Thanks! I think you have been doing better on Twitter than me lately. You are going to be my Twitter inspiration. I'm very happy to hear that you will read whatever I write (I'm assuming even if it is crap you will still read it). haha :D You are a great bestie.

  5. Congrats on 8 years with your husband! That is wonderful! I have a hard time writing reviews for books I think are just okay, so sometimes they are a little shorter. :) Good luck! Awesome job with your reading. :)

    1. Thanks so much! I'm glad to hear that I am not the only one who struggles writing three star reviews sometimes.

  6. You are definitely not alone about 3-star reviews! It's so easy to write a review for a book you loved or hated. My mediocre books end up being very ranty, because I find it easier to go on about the things I didn't like when the book wasn't that great.

    1. So glad to hear that I am not alone Lauren! Now that I think about some of my three stars can be a little ranty too!

  7. I am glad to see you are enjoying your job at the library! For us book readers and lovers, it pretty much is one of the best places you could possibly work ;) It seems like you will be busy in the future, but good job at staying ahead of the challenge!
