Catarina Agatta is a hacker. She can cripple mainframes and crash though firewalls, but that’s not what makes her special. In Cat’s world, people are implanted with technology to recode their DNA, allowing them to change their bodies in any way they want. And Cat happens to be a gene-hacking genius. That’s no surprise, since Cat’s father is Dr. Lachlan Agatta, a legendary geneticist who may be the last hope for defeating a plague that has brought humanity to the brink of extinction. But during the outbreak, Lachlan was kidnapped by a shadowy organization called Cartaxus, leaving Cat to survive the last two years on her own. When a Cartaxus soldier, Cole, arrives with news that her father has been killed, Cat’s instincts tell her it’s just another Cartaxus lie. But Cole also brings a message: before Lachlan died, he managed to create a vaccine, and Cole needs Cat’s help to release it and save the human race. Now Cat must decide who she can trust: The soldier with secrets of his own? The father who made her promise to hide from Cartaxus at all costs? In a world where nature itself can be rewritten, how much can she even trust herself?

Shortly after 17-year-old Maren Hamilton is orphaned and sent to live with grandparents she’s never met in Scotland, she receives an encrypted journal from her dead mother that makes her and everyone around her a target. It confirms that her parents were employed by a secret, international organization that’s now intent on recruiting her. As Maren works to unravel the clues left behind by her mother, a murderous madness sweeps through the local population, terrorizing her small town. Maren must decide if she’ll continue her parents’ fight or stay behind to save her friends. With the help of Gavin, an otherworldly mercenary she’s not supposed to fall in love with, and Graham, a charming aristocrat who is entranced with her, Maren races against the clock and around the country from palatial estates with twisted labyrinths to famous cathedrals with booby-trapped subterranean crypts to stay ahead of the enemy and find a cure. Along the way, she discovers the great truth of love: that laying down your life for another isn’t as hard as watching them sacrifice everything for you.
Oh the airport one sounds right up my alley!! On my TBR ASAP.
ReplyDeleteRight?!?! I also adore the cover.
DeleteToward a Secret Sky is already on my TBR, but I'll be adding the other one! Airports, Exes, and Other Thing sounds like such a fun time! The cover for This Mortal Coil is absolutely stunning! Great picks Kay. :)
ReplyDeleteThanks!! :D I love the covers of all of these beauties, but This Mortal Coil is my favorite.
DeleteAirports, Exes, and Other Things I'm Over sounds like a hallmark movie I've seen (:
ReplyDeleteThe other two aren't really my thing. It sounds like you are interested in mostly mysterious/action books regarding the last two books.
I love taking a peek at other TBR books too. When I do, I usually end up adding more books to my TBR.
The Airport story sounds like it will be a lot of fun. I am curious about the hacker as well. Great finds!
ReplyDeleteAll three of these sound really interesting, especially Mortal Coil. I'll be looking forward to your review :)
