Here are the Top Ten Eight Words/Topics
That Instantly Make Me Buy/Pick Up A Book!
1. Vampires: I love me some vampires. Did you not read my Top Ten Bookish Boyfriends post? Half of them were vampires. I am a huge fan of all the different little qualities that different authors give their vampires.
2. Survival: Fighting to survive? Count me in. For some reason I love a good stranded in a lifeboat, facing a huge storm or fire, or surviving in the arena, etc. type novel.
3. Dystopia: I love The Hunger Games, Divergent and the like. I'm a dystopian fan through and through, when it's done well of course.
4. Bad Boys: I can't say no to them.
5. Mythology: Mythology was one of my favorite classes in high school. The Percy Jackson series is one of my all time favorites.
6. Witches/Powers: Whether it is super powers of witchy powers I love reading about them and I wish I had some.
7. Secret Societies: I'm all about the secret societies with secret books and secret secrets.
8. A Unique Setting: I love a novel that takes place somewhere that I don't see on a daily basis, whether it be a different state such as Alaska or a whole different world.
8. A Unique Setting: I love a novel that takes place somewhere that I don't see on a daily basis, whether it be a different state such as Alaska or a whole different world.
I love unique settings. That's partly my intrigue in historical settings. I like a setting with flare, it really adds to the book. I highly recommend The Diviners and I also just finished In The Shadow of Blackbirds which was set in 1918. And usually beachy towns feel unique to me. Places I've been to or can imagine but still feel like a whole other world. I pretty much agree with all of these. I'd like to see more secret societies!
ReplyDeleteGreat list :)
Thanks! I love a unique setting. If I can get lost in a new place I'm sold. I will have to look into The Diviners next time I'm out. I've heard good things.
DeleteI don't think I can ever get tired of dystopia.

I do love unique and off-the-beaten path settings. Normal contemp settings and such bore me after a while. I adore mythology - Greek, Roman, Egyptian, you name it! But I haven't come across too many good books recently. Percy Jackson seems a bit young for my tastes. I used to devour mythology books, however, so I need to look for some more current ones. :) And secret societies are also so interesting. I enjoyed reading your picks!
