I couldn't help myself. I had to start this post off with a little FRIENDS. The whole episode is better but I couldn't post that. :) It's that time of year again... the time to read all the scary dark twisty and creepy books you can in honor of Halloween and the fall season where the days get shorter and the nights get longer. Therefore I have compiled a list of a variety of young adult and adult books for the spooky season. There are only a couple of books on these lists that I have yet to read but I've heard great creepy things about them. Click on the book covers to find out more about each book!

What scary/creepy/dark books do you plan on reading this month? I always love new reading recommendations.
Any books by Michael Laimo are amazing horror novels :D The Demonologist and Atmosphere are two of my favorites of his. :D
ReplyDeleteOMG I REMEMBER THAT EPISODE!!! :D :D
ReplyDeleteI've read a couple of the books on that list but I didn't know that The Face on the Milk Carton was a horror!
You know what I really want to read for halloween? Edgar Allen Poe. :P But I did buy Neil Gaiman's Natural Creatures for halloween so we'll see how that turns out. Great post! :D
OMG Edgar Allan Poe would be a great choice for Halloween!!!
DeleteOh man, I LOVE this post! I'm really excited about checking out The Coldest Girl in Coldtown and possibly even revisiting some of my old R.L. Stine books. If I can find my beat up copy of my old Fear Street book, then I'm all set! Happy creeptastic reading!
ReplyDeleteThanks! I was thinking you would like a post like this!
DeleteThis is an awesome list for the freezer, and I have to say that is one of my favorite episodes of Friends! It still makes me giggle!
ReplyDeleteI love Friends and I'm glad you enjoyed the post! :)
DeleteAwesome post! I was JUST thinking about this scene. And to top it all off, the titles you picked are fantastic! I loved Caroline B. Cooney and Lois Duncan. I loved the current titles you picked also. Thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteThanks for reading! I love me some Caroline B. Cooney. :) I just finished Eat Brains Love and it was pretty darn good.
DeleteI don't usually read creepy/horror books but I did read The Hallowed Ones & The Outside recently which were pretty darn scary!
ReplyDeleteps.
That clip from Friends was good =)
I love to spread the joy of Friends! I will have to check out those books you mentioned!
DeleteI love this post, and many of the books you list. Those Scary Stories To Tell in Dark covers really freaked me out as a kid, talk about books you want to put in the freezer :)
ReplyDeleteI was already a teenager when they first came out and they kind of freaked me out a little, too. I still have most of my original collection, although one disappeared when it took it to work to read it to the kids there. (I just hope it got read again.)
DeleteOMG the Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark totally freaked me out when I was younger!
DeleteSo I should start by saying that I am a HUGE baby. I am afraid of almost everything (including the dark) so I don't read too many spooky novels especially during an already spooky time of the year. But I can usually handle some degree of scary/dark/creepy. I will be starting Coldest Girl in Coldtown as my next audiobook! I've been wanting to read Bad Girls Don't Die. I love that cover for some reason. But I literally have so many books I want to read and I've been reading at a snails pace so I don't know if I am going to get to squeeze it in soon. We shall see. Great post Kay!
ReplyDeleteGreat list!
