I am the WORST at beginning a series and not finishing it. I don't know why. Sometimes I forget about them because of the long wait in-between books. Sometimes I just lose interest. Mostly I think I just have a problem finishing things. I am not sure. Anyway, I am guilty of being a repetitive offender of this week's topic and sadly found it pretty easy to come up with a lot of series that are finished that I have yet to finish.
Finished Series I Plan to Finish
1. Pulse by Patrick Carmen - I really want to read these. I don't know why I stopped after the first one.2. Elemental by Brigid Kemmerer - I have read 2 out of 5. Not bad.
3. Slated by Teri Terry - Once again I only read the first book in a series and then stopped.
4. Immortal Beloved by Cate Tiernan - I actually only have the last book to read, but I don't remeber much about the first two and will probably have to reread them.
5. The Pledge by Kimberly Derting - I hate to say it, but I only read the first book in this one as well...
6. Anna and The French Kiss by Stephanie Perkins - And this one.
Finished Series I Started but Probably Won't Continue
7. The Selection by Kiera Cass - I know I am in the minority, but I just don't think I can keep reading this series. One was enough.8. House of Night by P.C. Cast and Kristin Cast - I made it all the way to book 10, but I can't seem to find any motivation to read the last two books in this repetitive series.
So is it awful of me that I feel a little bit of glee that you don't want to finish The Selection. It just reinforces that our tastes are pretty damn close.
ReplyDeleteYea.... my review for that should be posting soon. We are such the black sheep for that one!
DeleteHa ha -- I'm the same way. I start so many series and never get around to finishing them. The Legend series is a good one (although, of course, I still haven't read the last book). I enjoyed THE PLEDGE, but never picked up the second book. Who knows why? Good luck to us on finishing all these series.
ReplyDeleteHappy TTT!
It is such a horrible habit I have, but honestly I probably won't be breaking it any time soon. haha Good luck with all your series as well!
DeleteYay for Shadowlands! I looooved it. I want to say so many things but they're all spoilers so I'll wait until you finish book one :P
ReplyDeleteI think this time of year is the perfect time to read Shadowlands! I can't wait to hear your thoughts once I finish. :D
DeleteAnna & the French Kiss is on my TBR list! My TTT
ReplyDeleteI completely understand the Selection series, i did read the three books just a few months ago, but i have no desire at all to continue on with even more books. and honestly the last book especially were just so that i finished at least the books that counted as a trilogy at one point so that i could at least pretend to myself that i finished this series. But really, it doesn't get better, it gets worse. So if you didn't enjoy the first one, stay far, far away from that series :) At least in my opinion :)
ReplyDeleteAnd Legend... i am with you on that one as well. I actually have the first book of that series from my Library but i am so unsure if i really want to read that or not. It doesn't sound like something i normally enjoy. But i heard so many great things. And also many people say they hate it. So really there is no in between. I have still no idea if i will be reading it nor not. So happy to hear i am not the only one that doesn't know if it is worth the read or not :)
Great list :)
Thank you for warning me that The Selection books don't get better! I was almost tempted to keep reading thinking that they do, but perhaps I am just one of the few that don't have tastes for that series. It just wasn't my thing.
DeleteI don't know about Legend either. I think it is on my TBR pile mostly because of the hype like you. Only time will tell I suppose.
The only book I've read on here is Slated and I'm not sure I plan on continuing that series, I wanted to like it but it really bored me. Still I hate discontinuing series so I may pick up the second book just to see if it gets better.

I am bad at finishing series, for many reasons, but I also hate starting one and not finishing. I don't make sense. I know.
DeleteKay, I have a slew of trilogies unfinished, mostly in the YA genre. A lot stem from seeing reviews that were meh for the final book, and others are because by the time book two released I wasn't in the mood anymore. This year I just stopped fretting about it and let it go.
ReplyDeleteI need to adopt that attitude!
DeleteGreat list! I am really bad at finishing series too. I have been working my way through a lot last month and this month. I loved the Legend series and Anna and the French Kiss series! I gave up on the House of Night series too. I made it up to book 8.

I applaud you for making it that far in the Marked series! That one started off with such promise and then I started to feel like it wasn't going anywhere fast enough and that they were just dragging it out on purpose. Plus, the MC didn't seem to be growing much...
