My Rating:
Goodreads Synopsis: When Gia Montgomery's boyfriend, Bradley, dumps her in the parking lot of her high school prom, she has to think fast. After all, she'd been telling her friends about him for months now. This was supposed to be the night she proved he existed. So when she sees a cute guy waiting to pick up his sister, she enlists his help. The task is simple: be her fill-in boyfriend— two hours, zero commitment, a few white lies. After that, she can win back the real Bradley.

The problem is that days after prom, it's not the real Bradley she's thinking about, but the stand-in. The one whose name she doesn't even know. But tracking him down doesn't mean they're done faking a relationship. Gia owes him a favor and his sister intends to see that he collects: his ex-girlfriend's graduation party — three hours, zero commitment, a few white lies.

Just when Gia begins to wonder if she could turn her fake boyfriend into a real one, Bradley comes waltzing back into her life, exposing her lie, and threatening to destroy her friendships and her new-found relationship.

My Review

Read this book.

Here are the short and sweet (just like the book) reasons as to why you should...

I'm just going to say it. Kasie West is a master at writing young adult contemporary romance novels. She has yet to write one that disappointed me. Not a single book. Full of laughs, swoons, friends, romance, and banter, The Fill-In Boyfriend is yet another hit from Kasie West. It was wonderful and perfectly cute.

The characters are full of life. Gia may seem very shallow at first glance, but this didn't deter me from enjoying the book. Not only does she change and grow, but her personality only made her seem more real. I love fill-in Bradley (he was probably my favorite), his sister, and all of the other characters in this book.

This is a fun one to read. It's a story that touches on friendship, family, and romance.

The Bottom Line: The Fill-In Boyfriend was an easy read that I have no problem recommending to everyone.

  4. I think writing YA contemporary is Kasie West's superpower. I'm glad you loved this one (although of course you would because BESTIES - I hope I didn't just jinx us) but you see what I mean about this one having a different feel. I was like narrating Gia's like while reading this one like - "Don't do that Gia" "Tell the truth Gia" "He likes you Gia, you idiot"

    1. It has to be her super power! (You better not have jinxed us. For real.) It did have a little different of a feel, I totally got what you meant once I read it. I was so nervous that I wouldn't like Gia at all! Luckily that wasn't the case. lol I was totally narrating her life as well.
