Bout of Books Read-A-Thon Sign Up, Goals, & Updates

Since I had so much fun doing this last year I decided to give it a try again this year, and simply because I feel like I'm starting off my bookish year right with a read-a-thon! This is my second year participating in Bout of Books!

Bout of BooksThe Bout of Books read-a-thon is organized by Amanda @ On a Book Bender and Kelly @ Reading the Paranormal. It is a week long read-a-thon that begins 12:01am Monday, January 6th and runs through Sunday, January 12th in whatever time zone you are in. Bout of Books is low-pressure, and the only reading competition is between you and your usual number of books read in a week. There are challenges, giveaways, and a grand prize, but all of these are completely optional. For all Bout of Books 9.0 information and updates, be sure to visit the Bout of Books blog. - From the Bout of Books team

My Goals

Reading Goals
~ Read at least 5 books. (I normally read 2-3 books a week.)
~ Keep detailed notes as I read so it will be easier for me to write my reviews later.

Social Goals
~ Participate in the Wednesday Twitter chat.
Participate in at least two challenges.
~ Discover at least two new book blogs.

The Books
Twp Boys Kissing by: David Levithan - I heard it is great. Enough said.

Attachments by: Rainbow Rowell - This book has been sitting on my shelf for months. It is about time I read it, not to mention it is one of the many books I need to read for the TBR pile challenge I'm participating in.

The Returned by: Jason Mott - Not only have I been dying to read this, but I received this book through ARCycling and I know they want my review. ;)

~ Cinder by: Marissa Meyer - I read this book a long time ago but don't remember it well enough to read Scarlet and Cress so I'm diving back in.

Scarlet by: Marissa Meyer - I'm excited to finally read this, not to mention that it is part of a sequel challenge I'm participating in this year.

~ Independent Study by: Joelle Charbonneau - I just got this from the library on Monday and since I have been waiting so long to get my hands on a copy I'm adding it to this list last minute. :)

Looking Back...

Although I was half a book short from reaching my goal of reading 5 books in one week, I am still pretty excited I read 4 1/2 books total, double what I normally read in a week. I also participated in two fun challenges. I didn't find as many new book blogs as I would have liked, but I did find one pretty cool one. :) Overall, I think I did just fine this read-a-thon and can't wait to participate again next time!

  1. I can't imagine reading that many books in a week, though I wish I could! I'm especially looking forward to your thoughts on Two Boys Kissing, I keep forgetting about that one. Good luck :)

    1. I can't either but I'm going to give it a shot. I can't wait to read Two Boys Kissing, for some reason I keep putting it off.

  3. How is Attachments? I really loved Fangirl and want to go back and read the rest of Rainbow Rowell's books this year. Good luck with your goals. I am making sure I keep notes as well and/or writing the review rough drafts the next day so I don't forget. My Update

    Happy Reading!!

  4. You are doing great! I hope you liked Attachments. I just finished Fangirl which was really good, so I am wondering if her other books are as good. Good luck with the rest of the read-a-thon and happy reading!
