I Feel Like Gabbing Today

** I want to share with you the very random thoughts that pop into my head and chat with you about them. Many are bookish thoughts and many are not. I feel like I don't have enough discussion type posts on the blog so I am giving this a whirl. Some days I will talk about a specific topic and sometimes I will just throw some random thoughts at you. So please sit back, relax, and take a second to chat with me today.

Random Thoughts

1. Holidays are exciting AND stressful.

2. I love buying presents more then getting them. My favorite person to shop for is my husband. I have way too much fun picking nerdy stuff out for him for Christmas.

3. I had a blast decorating my house for Christmas for the very first time. We kept it really simple. We put up a small tree and a few odds and ends we acquired throughout the years around the house. Out front we just threw a couple of those Christmas light nets on our bushes and we have one light up penguin. I think it turned out super cute! I am sorry I don't have a picture, but every time I tried to take one it turned out blurry.

4. Participating in #TBTBSanta was so much fun! It was my first time and I am sure there will be many more. I had a blast picking out gifts for Holly @ The Fox's Hideaway! I bought her copies of Sanctum by Sarah Fine, ACOTAR, an Olaf Tsum, warm and fuzzy fox socks, and some cheddar/caramel popcorn mix. My gift was from Deanna @ Deanna Writes and is pictured below. Thanks again Deanna!
What was gifted to me from Deanna!
5. My husband and I have started collecting Funko Pop guys to decorate our DVD area in our media room in the basement. We have Dancing Baby Groot, Adipose, Jon Snow, and Batman. We are thinking of getting a Rick Grimes and at least three more!

6. I am doing a big purge of all my library items by the start of 2016. I want to start fresh. It always makes me feel better when I start 2016 without any books currently checked out on my library card.

7.  My mom brought us a whole bunch of cookies that she baked this past weekend as part of our early little Christmas celebration. Delish! (We may have already eaten a whole bunch by the time I took the picture.) I am going to gain so much weight this holiday season.

8. I have officially decided to not sign up for any year-long challenges for 2016 except for the goodreads challenge. Other than that one challenge I will just participate in month-long or week-long challenges that pop up throughout the year. Challenges seem to bring me too much stress and/or I never actually complete them.

9. I started re-watching FRIENDS for the billionth time this past week. I think I may just have to do a post about my favorite episodes sometime in the near future. Get excited! ;)

10. Now just a tiny little bit TMI: Even though this winter has been pretty mild weather wise, my hands are still 100% grossly dried out. I feel like that no matter how much lotion I put on it makes no difference.

11. I hope every single one of you has a wonderful Christmas/whatever holiday you celebrate!

  1. I hope you have a lovely holiday as well! I, too, love buying presents for people, and it's been especially fun getting things for my friends this year since I tried to work within themes ;)

  2. Yay for cookies and decorating the new house! It was a little stressful doing all the Christmas things while running around after the little guy, but I think it's all worked out nicely. I always remind everyone else to not stress out, so maybe I should remind myself too! It's just that everything requires so much more planning now and I tend to overthink things -- oh well, something to work on in 2016!

My library card is *almost* in the clear...that's a great way to start the new year as I tend to have huge stacks out at a time. And good for you on deciding not to join challenges! They are not for everyone. I think I will still join a few because my half-hearted thought to ditch them all next year has been compromised by a few really, really interesting ones I have found. Either way, I'm mixing things up next year :)

Merry Christmas Kay and a happy, healthy new year!! :)

    1. I hope you ended up having a low stress Christmas and had a wonderful time with your little boy.

Nice job at getting your library piles down for the new year! It is always so hard to do! Good luck with your challenges.

      Merry Christmas!!!

  4. I love wrapping gifts even when it's not my gift to give. I actually prefer receiving gifts just because I always get surprised by what my family gets me. I know what I'm getting them already. I should really do a Santa gift exchange one year. This group on GoodReads always does it. I was going to get a Funko Pop Oliver Queen for someone but ended up getting them a monitor guy of Boba Fett which was super cute. Funnily enough my brother got that person BB8.
I feel like I've watched Friends so many times just with reruns on tv. I'm so surprised I was allowed to watch it when I was so young. It's ridiculously hot over here for me to get dry hands but the other day I saw that my toes were a little dry when it actually got a tiny bit colder :P ~ Maybe you need more water in your system.

    1. It is always fun to receive surprise gifts! I think you should think about doing a secret santa next year. It is a lot of fun! I may get a BB8 one because I love that droid! I think perhaps you have a point about the water thing too. I am so bad at drinking water. I am trying to do better. If I have it near me I tend to drink it.

  5. My boyfriend and I collect Funko POP figures too! They are just too cute! I gifted him the Harry and Voldemort ones from the new HP collection! I totally have to agree with you on the challenges as well. Now that I'm working Full Time I really want to not be pressured by what I choose to read, and year long challenges can really turn into a chore. It's even become a chore trying to keep track of the ones I participated in THIS year. I think the only one I want to commit to this year is the Goodreads challenge!

    1. Aren't they so fun and adorable?! I need at least one HP one. It is deciding which one that is the challenge! I totally understand where you are coming from with the challenges. Good luck with the goodreads challenge! I hope you had a wonderful holiday.

  6. I do feel better not doing year long challenges, I tried before and it was a struggle but now I feel free to read anything. It was really nice setting an attainable goodreads goal last year so I am going for a bit higher but not overly high that if life gets in the way it becomes too hard. I hope you had a good holiday season :)
