My Rating:
Goodreads Summary: The queen has returned.
Everyone Celaena Sardothien loves has been taken from her. But she’s at last returned to the empire—for vengeance, to rescue her once-glorious kingdom, and to confront the shadows of her past…
She has embraced her identity as Aelin Galathynius, Queen of Terrasen. But before she can reclaim her throne, she must fight.
She will fight for her cousin, a warrior prepared to die for her. She will fight for her friend, a young man trapped in an unspeakable prison. And she will fight for her people, enslaved to a brutal king and awaiting their lost queen’s triumphant return.
My Review
Fans of the Throne of Glass series won't want to miss the heart bursting fourth installment, Queen of Shadows. The stakes just keep on getting higher.
What I Loved: Celaena. Even when she frustrates me I love her. She is amazing.
What I Freaking Loved: Every other freaking character, but mostly Manon and Lysandra, bad-assery at its finest.
What I Was Beyond Thrilled About: The plot. Seriously. The action. The fighting scenes. This book was nerve wrecking.
What Disappointed Me: How Maas handled Chaol and Celaena's reunion. Sigh.
What Drove Me Crazy: That ending. Thank goodness we have two more books to go!
I really like the format of this quick review.
ReplyDeleteI think it's interesting how many people love Manon, because I struggle with her chapters. I also really loved the development with Lysandra. I might be the only person who is OK with the Chaol situation. I'm not sure why, but it just felt realistic to me and after rereading the series I felt like there were lots of hints that I missed the first time around.

Thanks Emily! Sometimes when I sit down to write a review I just know a shorter, straight to the point version works best. I was a little hesitant with Manon's chapters at first, but now I am obsessed.
DeleteWe talked about this so you know my thoughts mirror yours pretty closely. Seriously thank god (or SJMaas/Bloomsbury) for two more books. I am so not ready to give this series up yet. Let's hope we don't get yet ANOTHER love interest though...
ReplyDeleteI can't handle another love interest. Fingers crossed!
