Sheila over at Book Journey is hosting this wonderful "First Book of the Year" party that I have decided to participate in. I am so very glad I stumbled upon this little corner of the internet! I'm not even really sure if I truly ever really thought about which book should be my first read of the new year, but thanks to this event I really took the time to think about it this year. I just know that this is going to be a fun way to kick off my reading year. I also can't wait to see what books everyone else picked! Without further ado...
My First Book of the Year: 2016
You may be a little shocked to learn that my first book of 2016 isn't going to be a young adult novel. Don't worry, I still plan to read mostly YA books this year. I actually decided to choose a book that has been on my TBR pile for a while that I have been in the mood to read lately but just haven't actually gotten around to doing so yet. That is how I ended up picking The Song of Achilles. I have even seen a lot of bloggers reading and loving this book recently. This just makes me want to read The Song of Achilles even more.
I'm in the middle of The Winner's Curse, so I will be finishing that! Afterwards, I'm not sure yet what my first full book of the year will be...probably the next in the series :) :)
ReplyDeleteI think you will like those books! I can't wait to see what you think.

DeleteIt's great to start the year reading a genre you don't usually read. I'm an eclectic reader and I love doing this all the time. I hope you love it!
ReplyDeleteI agree! Fingers crossed. Happy New Year!
DeleteMany folks chose to read a book that has been on their shelves. Me included.
ReplyDeleteMine didn't work out for the best, though. Wasn't something I enjoyed after I got started.
Happy New Year, and enjoy your first book of the year.

My First Book Of The Year
I feel like my TBR pile only grows and never gets smaller. lol I hope your second read of the year is better for you. Happy New Year!
DeleteThe Song of Achilles has been on my tbr for so long. I should really read it already. I hope you love it to pieces. I'm on my 6th book now. My first book was Until Friday Night by Abbi Glines. I still can't come up with the words to describe it perfectly.
ReplyDeleteI feel like it has been on my TBR since the beginning of time. lol I started it at the beginning of the year then put it on the back burner for Bout of Books and now I picked it up again. It is pretty good. I shall finish it in the next few days. I read your review on Until Friday Night and am interested to read it myself.
DeleteI haven't heard of this one, but I really like that cover! I just read a book for a blog tour, but unfortunately, it sucked. :P It ended up being a 2-star read for me. I am currently reading another book called 'Never Kiss a Man in a Christmas Jumper' which has been a lot of fun, and I think this one will end up being a 5-star for me. I really look forward to picking up The Song of Achilles. :D Happy New Year!
ReplyDeleteThe cover is very eye-catching! That stinks, but then your next read sounds like it is going to be wonderful! Happy New Year!
DeleteI am starting with The Shadow Queen! I have never heard of The Song of Achilles, I look forward to your review :)
ReplyDeleteI can't wait to see what you think of The Shadow Queen!
