Bout of Books Read-A-Thon: Sign Up, Goals, & Updates

This will be my third time participating in Bout of Books. After a crazy couple of weeks I hope to get some much needed down time and get some reading done this week!

The Bout of Books read-a-thon is organized by Amanda @ On a Book Bender and Kelly @ Reading the Paranormal. It is a week long read-a-thon that begins 12:01am Monday, August 18th and runs through Sunday, August 24th in whatever time zone you are in. Bout of Books is low-pressure, and the only reading competition is between you and your usual number of books read in a week. There are challenges, giveaways, and a grand prize, but all of these are completely optional. For all Bout of Books 11 information and updates, be sure to visit the Bout of Books blog.

My Goals

Reading Goals
~ Read at least 5 books. (I normally read 2-3 books a week.)
~Keep detailed notes as I read so it will be easier for me to write my reviews later.

Social Goals
~Participate in one Twitter chat.
~Participate in at least two challenges.
- Scavenger Hunt Challenge
- Book Spine Poetry Challenge
- Like This, Try This Challenge
- Book Chain and Recreate a Cover Challenges
~ Discover at least two new book blogs.

The Books
~ The Statistical Probability of Love at First Sight by: Jennifer E. Smith - This just sounds like a good summer read.
~ Spark by: Brigid Kemmerer - I liked the first book and I can't wait to see where the second book takes me.
~ The Storyteller by: Jodi Picoult - This one has been on my TBR pile for way too long.
~ The Heist by: Janet Evanovich - I like this author and this book reminds me of the television show White Collar.
~ The Shadow Society by: Maire Rutkoski - I liked this author's other book, The Winner's Curse, and it's a stand-alone!

Final Thoughts

I amazingly hit every single one of my goals!! :D This Bout of Books was the best yet. I had a blast participating in many of the challenges, and now that it is all over I feel very accomplished. Only one small bad thing, now I have a whole bunch of reviews to write. I hope everyone else had as much fun as I did! I can't wait until next time.

  6. Another person who brings up The Shadow Society. I recently nominated it to read for a bookclub. I really hope they choose it and you enjoy reading the story. I like that the main character learns from their mistake in love before. I wonder if they'll be romance or that's it.
    Good luck with your goal!
